Theatre Classes @ The Madison
Step into a welcoming community where creativity shines and every voice is celebrated. Our 8-week acting and theatre program at the historic Madison Theatre in Albany, NY is designed to help students and emerging performers build confidence, strengthen technique, and experience the joy of bringing a story to life—together.
Guided by teaching artists from the Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate New York, participants will work as an ensemble on one shared script from first read to final bow. Along the way, you’ll discover new tools, supportive mentorship, and a community that believes in your potential.

Step into the spotlight with the Black Theatre Troupe of Upstate New York (BTTUNY), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in the Capital Region. Founded in 2010 by veteran actor and Producing Artistic Director Jean-Remy Monnay, BTTUNY promotes performances and theatrical works by and about artists of color, fostering greater understanding, appreciation, and participation in the performing arts.
This hands-on, 8-week acting and theatre program meets Wednesdays from 4:00–6:00 pm at the Madison Theatre in Albany, NY. Participants work from first read to final bow using one shared script that the ensemble learns, rehearses, and performs in a culminating showcase.
